ALICE J. VOORHEES

Alice Jean Voorhees, 78, lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, was born, August 29, 1942, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Lawrence E. and Virginia M. (Comer) Walker.  She departed this life, Thursday, December 31, 2020, at her home surrounded with love and family.

Alice was a 1960 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.

On December 10, 1960, she was united in marriage to James R. Voorhees in Miami, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death on December 26, 2013.

Alice had been employed as a Teller for the Pleasant Hill Bank and later as a Realtor for Reece Nichols-Shewmaker in Pleasant Hill.  While her kids were young she had been a Bus Driver for the Pleasant Hill R-III School district and worked for several years at CO-OP.  She enjoyed sewing, working jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, baking, and shopping.  She most treasured spending time with her family.

Alice was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Voorhees; and one granddaughter, Kally Voorhees.

She is survived by one son, Russell (and Kelli) Voorhees of Pleasant Hill; one daughter, Barbara Sue (and Steven) Willetts of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, Jessica N. Willett, Shelby (and Trevor) Griffin, Makenzie (and Zach) Busick, and Madison Voorhees, all of Pleasant Hill; one great grandchild, Camden Griffin; her sister, Nancy Swofford of Pleasant Hill; her companion and best friend, Charlie Walker of Pleasant Hill; other relatives and friends.

Private funeral services were held Monday, January 4, 2021. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
