ALVIN E. WINFREY
Alvin Eugene Winfrey, 72, of Pleasant Hill, was born, January 6, 1947, in Warrensburg, Missouri, the son of James A. and Dorothy M. (Odle) Winfrey. He departed this life, Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at his home surrounded with love and family.
Alvin was attended East High School in Kansas City and was a United States Army Vietnam War veteran.
On April 28, 1968, he was united in marriage to Carrie Ann Loveall in Kansas City, Missouri.
Alvin was employed as a Journeyman Roofer for the Quality Roofing Company for over 33 years and was a member of the Roofer’s Union Local #20. He enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales, playing on his tablet and a good game of horse shoes.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy; one brother, Jack Winfrey; and one sister, April Winfrey.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie of Pleasant Hill; two son’s Kris Winfrey of Pleasant Hill, and Donald Winfrey of St. Joseph; two daughters, Rhoda Tucker of Pleasant Hill, and Eugenia (and Juan) Morales of Mayview, Missouri; one adopted son, Bruce Brandenburg of Leavenworth; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; six brothers, James Winfrey of North Kansas City, Arthur (and Phyllis) Winfrey of Kansas City, Norman (and Vickie) Winfrey of Minnesota, Robert Winfrey of Strasburg, Larry Winfrey of Pleasant Hill, and Richard Winfrey of Blue Springs; four sisters, Cheryl Wilson of Peculiar, Debbie (and Al) Cleghorn of Independence, Cindy Best of Independence, and Nancy (and John) Dugan of Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the funeral home. Reverend James Poe officiated. Full military honors were conducted by the United States Army and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Cremation was to be accorded following services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
