Amy L. Coon

November 15, 1980 — May 25, 2026

Strasburg and Pleasant Hill, Missouri

Amy LeAnn Coon, 45, of Strasburg and Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born November 15, 1980, in Princeton, Missouri, the daughter of Max Coon and Claudia Nickell (Argo). She departed this life unexpectedly Monday, May 25, 2026, in Pleasant Hill.

Amy was a 1999 Pleasant Hill High School graduate. She later earned a bachelor’s degree from Ottawa University.

She was employed at the Dollar General Store, later at High Quality Plastics, and as a Waitress for Whitey’s Restaurant all in Pleasant Hill. For the past 12 years she has worked for the Marsh McLennan Aviation Insurance Agency in Lee’s Summit. She was baptized at the Faith Baptist Church in her youth in Lee’s Summit. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, antiquing, and watching crime shows. Above all she loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved to spoil and plan grand sleepovers.

Amy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brayden and Cheyenne Smith of Pleasant Hill; two grandchildren Porter Smith and Bellamy Smith; her stepfather, Craig Summers and Colleen Green of Holden her father Max Coon of Princeton; her mother and stepfather Claudia (and Robin) Argo of Harrisonville; two brothers and their wives Jason and Kylie Summers of Pleasant Hill and Jarrod and Megan Summers of Elk Grove, California; other relatives and friends.

Amy lived a simple life and found joy in the little things. Her best friend and best pup, Levi, made sure she was never alone and later her kitten, French Fry, joined the family. Amy was the mother hen to everyone in her life. She cared deeply for her loved ones. Even through her years of cancer treatment, she showed up for her family and was the absolute best Grammy. Her love for older and simpler things in life allowed her to enjoy her crafts, home d.i.y. projects, and her garden.

Cremation has been accorded.
