Anita A. Reeves

Anita Alexander Reeves, 70, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis, was born October 1, 1952, in St. Louis, the daughter of James Harvey and Lois Hewitt (Dixon) Alexander.  She departed this life, on her birthday, Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Overland Park Center for Rehabilitation as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident five years earlier.

Anita was a 1971 John Burroughs High School graduate. 

On March 26, 1988, she was united in marriage to Clinton William Reeves in St. Louis. To this union their son, Fletcher Alexander Reeves, was born on March 11, 1998.

Anita was employed as a funeral director at her parent’s firm, Alexander and Son’s Funeral Home in St. Louis and later worked for the Lupton Funeral home and Hoffmeister Funeral Home.  Following her career in funeral service in St. Louis and after moving to Pleasant Hill in 1991, she worked for the Resolution Trust Co. before becoming a full-time Home Health Care Provider last working for Home Instead Senior Care. She enjoyed going to garage sales and thrift stores, but most enjoyed time spent with family.

She is survived by her husband, Clinton Reeves of Pleasant Hill; three siblings, Sarah (and Bill) Lindsey of Las Vegas, Nevada, James “Jimmy” (and Debra “Debbie” Croxton) Alexander of St. Louis, and Mary (and John) Simonsen of Johnson City, Tennessee; other relatives and friends.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Fletcher Alexander Reeves on September 28, 2018.

Cremation has been accorded.

Memorial services were held Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Pastor James Stanfield-Myers officiated. Inurnment will be in the Fairview Cemetery near Madison, Nebraska at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Fletcher Reeves Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
