Ann Schwab

Ann Elizabeth Schwab, 87, of Pleasant Hill, was born, April 19, 1927, in Ava, Missouri, the daughter of John and Tina (Fleetwood) Welch. She departed this life at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Research Hospital Vitas Care.

In 1967 she was united in marriage to Frederick Anthony Schwab in Davenport, Iowa.

In 1974 Ann and Fred opened the Ann Schwab residential care home; eventually growing to five homes. She was committed to those who were handicapped or less fortunate always opening her home to all those who were in need.

She was preceded in death by one daughter Sara Schwab; two brothers, Ernie Welch and Virgil Welch; and one sister Leoda Halford.

She is survived by her husband Fred of the home; one son Paul Schwab of Pleasant Hill; one daughter Michelle Wentworth of Blue Springs; five grandchildren, Michaela Piper of Independence, Michael Piper of Pleasant Hill, Katelyn Wentworth, Martina Wentworth and Tony Wentworth all of Blue Springs; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 9, 2014, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated. Interment was in the Floral Hills East Cemetery, Lee’s Summit.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the CASCO Area Work Shop and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
