Arlene Leslie age 87 of Pleasant Hill, Missouri departed this life Saturday, March 24, 2018 at her home in Pleasant Hill, surrounded by family and love. In this same home she was born on September 26, 1930 to Cloyd Harold Baldwin and Laura Heloise (Bell) Baldwin.

She graduated Salutatorian from Pleasant Hill High School in 1948 and began teaching that fall at Hickory Grove School. She remained there for two years and then taught one year at East Lynne School. Her teacher training included several summer school sessions at Central Missouri Teacher College in Warrens burg. Arlene married Robert Leslie on June 24, 1951 at East Lynne Baptist Church. When Robert returned from a stint in the military, they moved to Kansas City North in 1955, where they raised their family and resided for the next 60 years.

She was a member of Hillside Christian Church in Kansas City, MO but attended East Lynne Baptist Church in recent years. She enjoyed reading, working in her iris beds, canning, cooking, and spending time with her family. Evident by the many pictures displayed in her home, she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was able to spend much time with all of them throughout the years.

Besides her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Baldwin, and her brother, Robert Baldwin.

She is survived by her husband, Robert O. Leslie of the home; a son, Steve Leslie and wife Mary, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; a daughter, Cindy Thornton and husband Brad, Bates City, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Kelli Carlson (Michael) of Olathe, KS, Sean Leslie (Brandi) of Odessa, MO, Katie Wingard (Keith) of Pleasant Hill, MO, Drew Thornton (Abbey) of Gladstone, MO, Cole Thornton (Brittany) of Independence, KS, and Kyle Thornton of Chillicothe, MO; 10 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Caleb, Ames, Cael, Ethan, Emma, Reid, Cade, Grace, and Collins; a sister, Mary Lou Triplett, Pleasant Hill, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Foundation.
