Barbara Kay Colacicco, 84, of Pleasant Hill, was born April 11, 1942, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of James F. and Esther B. (Maynard) Porter. She departed this life Monday, April 13, 2026, peacefully in her sleep.
Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School. She later earned her Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
Barbara spent her life helping others as a CNA working in home health care. She cared for many patients in the Kansas City area. She was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church where she was active with the "A Joy" senior adult group. She enjoyed fishing, was an avid reader, and loved watching the Royals. She was especially fond of animals, especially her dog, Brandy.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Wanda Sue Porter; and one son Jimmy Poindexter.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bill Grills of Belton; one son, Thomas Poindexter (and Linda Cupp) of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Stephen (and Katy) Johnson of Harrisonville and Wesley Moody of Lee's Summit; great grandchildren, Madison Hilton and Lucas Johnson (and fiancé Brianna); great-great grandchildren, Delylah and Magnolia; and many other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
Visitation and a celebration of her life were held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Grain Valley. Pastor Christ Sims officiated.
Inurnment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
