Betzey Joan Ball, 94, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, was born July 18, 1931, in Breckenridge, Missouri, the daughter of William Henry and Raeburn (Green) Curnow. She departed this life, Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Kansas City Hospice House with family by her side.
Betzey was a 1949 Breckenridge high school graduate.
On August 17, 1951, she was united in marriage to John Wallace “J.W.” Ball in Breckenridge and to this union three children, Karen, Sharon, and John, were born. J.W. preceded her in death on April 19, 2017.
Betzey was first employed at the Hamilton Bank and later for Hallmark. After the birth of her first child, she became a full-time homemaker. She was of the Methodist Faith. When she was young, she enjoyed snow ice sculpting and won awards for her work. She also enjoyed being outside in nature, gardening, mowing, baking, cake decorating, and decorating her home for all the holidays. She enjoyed spending time with family.
Betzey was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Norman Curnow; one sister, June Haas; and her son, LTC John Ball.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Ball of Lee’s Summit and Sharon Carter of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Cindy Ball of Lee’s Summit; two granddaughters, Ashleigh Ball of Lee’s Summit and Katelyn (and Scott) Gavin of Fenton, Missouri; one great grandson, Rowan Gavin; her grand pups, Bandit and Toby; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded. Private inurnment will be in the Swan Lake Memorial Park Cemetery, Grain Valley.
A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Raintree Lake Duck Pond Activity Center, 111 S. Cole Younger Dr., Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64082.
