William Charles “Bill” Davidson, 100, of John Knox Village, Lee’s Summit, was born December 22, 1920, on the Davidson Farmstead near Pleasant Hill, the son of Walter and Mary (Johnson) Davidson.  He departed this life, Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the Lee’s Summit Medical Center.

Bill lived most of his life in the Kansas City metro area. He was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School class of 1939 and represented Pleasant Hill in the American Legion’s first Missouri Boys State.  He remained on the farm after high school until entering military service.  During WWII he served in the U.S. Army Infantry and Army Air Corps as a bomber pilot.  He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia as an agricultural journalist and was member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.

On February 3, 1952, he was united in marriage to Annette “Ann” Hunt in Pleasant Hill.  She preceded him in death on January 3, 2008.

Bill worked in Kansas City for Hereford cattle publications and retired from Flower & Garden magazine as Associate Editor.  In 1987 he and Ann moved to John Knox Village. He served six years on the Village Board of Directors and volunteered with various Village Organizations.  He and Ann were members of the Village Promenaders and Lemon Drops square dance clubs for many years.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit.

Bill was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter A. “Butch” Davidson; sister, Alice E. Kosfeld; and one nephew, David Kosfeld.

He is survived by two nephews, Larry (and Diane) Kosfeld of Greenwood and James (and Sarah) Kosfeld of Pleasant Hill; one niece Malinda (and Bill) Remshak of Harrisonville; and one great-niece Rhonda (Knorpp) (and Tom) Rogge of Kansas City; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were heldTuesday, April 13, 2021, at the funeral home.  Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the United States Army and V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers were Tommy Curtis, James Kosfeld, Larry Kosfeld, Gage Neve, Bill Remshak, and Tom Rogge.
