Billy Barnes

Billy Harold Barnes, 84, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, formerly of Warrensburg, Missouri, was born November 24, 1930, in Chickopee Village, Georgia, the son of C. Glenn and Lola Melinda (Orr) Barnes. He departed this life Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Billy was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School, Gainesville, Georgia.

He was first united in marriage to Marvel Ruth Conley; they later divorced. He later married Janet Aymond, who preceded him in death.

He was a decorated Korean and Vietnam War Air Force veteran, proudly serving 27 years.

Billy had been employed as a Chief Master Sergeant of the Military Police for the United States Air Force, retiring May 31, 1977. He, then worked at Whiteman Air Force Base in Warrensburg, Missouri for a number of years in the commissary.

Billy was preceded in death by his second wife, Janet, a brother, Roy Barnes; and two sisters Mildred Vaughn and Glendean Butsch.

He is survived by 3 sons, Michael Barnes of Ashland, Ohio, David Barnes of Wooster, Ohio and Steven Barnes of Valdosta, Georgia; a daughter, Linda Moore of Daleville, Alabama; 3 sisters, Kathleen Ruegsegger of Troy, Michigan, Margaret Eller of Shambley, Georgia, and Betty Gabriel of Gainesville, Georgia; a sister-in-law Margie Barnes of Lancaster, South Carolina, 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A Memorial service and inurnment, with full military honors, will be held at a later date in Ashland, Ohio.
