Bradley O. Young

October 22, 1963 — November 26, 2023

Pleasant Hill

Bradley O. “Brad” Young, 60, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born October 22, 1963, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of William O. and Evelyn J. (Hicks) Young.  He departed this life unexpectedly Sunday, November 26, 2023, at his home.

Brad grew up in Columbia and was a 1982 Rockbridge High School graduate where he had recently been inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a proud 1986 graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia.

On February 12, 1993, he was united in marriage to Tracy L. Marks in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and to this union two sons, Trevor and Josh, were born.

Brad was employed with State Farm for 36 years, developing many close friendships with his positivity and professionalism.  He was an active member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, the Mizzou Alumni Association, and was active with the Pleasant Hill Community Garden.  He was an avid sports fan.  He loved his Mizzou Tigers, his KC Chiefs, and celebrating (or critiquing) games with Will, Trevor and Josh.   Brad was adventurous.  He loved the outdoors and was a passionate fisherman.  He was always planning his next adventure with Tracy.  He shared infectious enthusiasm for anything and everything – be it raking leaves, twelve hours of fishing, planning parties, or setting up Mizzou tailgates.  Brad never met a stranger.  He had pockets of friendships from literally all over the world.  These friendships were a testament to the life he led.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Tracy of their home; two sons, Trevor L. Young of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Joshua “Josh” Young of Dallas, Texas; his brother and sister-in-law, Will and Lori Young of Rogersville, Missouri; two nieces, Katelyn Young and Kristyn Young, both of St. Louis, Missouri; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Don & Kitty Marks of Olathe, KS; countless lifelong friends and many cousins.

Cremation has been accorded.

Visitation was held Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Stanley-Edenburn Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Brad's life was held Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.  Pastor James Stanfield-Myers officiated.
