Craig Travis Miller, 50, of Lee’s Summit, was born September 21, 1974, in Kansas City. He departed this life peacefully at sunrise on August 11, 2025, at his home with his family.
Travis was a 1993 Lee’s Summit High School graduate, where played football and wrestled. He went on to play football at Missouri Western University, later transferring to the University of Missouri at Columbia. He finalized his bachelor’s degree in computer science at Park University.
On November 15, 2003, he was united in marriage to Erin Rose Misiewicz at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas. To this union three sons, Royse, A.J. and Austin were born.
Travis was employed as a Systems Architect Engineer and worked for the same company for over 27 years, first as Nextel, then Sprint, and now T-Mobile. He was an avid supporter of his sons’ activities, including Scouts and later coaching them in flag football, baseball, and basketball. Travis thought the best view at a baseball game was from his ball bucket in the dugout. He could set a line-up faster than anyone and relished discussing baseball stats. He also enjoyed listening to music, especially live music. He was talented at smoking meat and with a group of friends formed a barbeque team, competing in several area competitions. He loved cheering for the KC Chiefs and Royals, but above all he cherished spending time with his family.
Known as the dog whisperer, he could train any dog and all animals loved him, especially his dogs Sadie, Lucy and Quinn. Despite his 6-foot 5-inch frame, Travis had a way of blending into the background and observing everyone. Then just when least expected, he would deliver the perfect one-liner. He was great at telling stories while grilling and drinking a cold beer. We will never forget his mischievous smile when he was teasing you.
Travis has been honored with the 2025 Courage Award from Head for the Cure Foundation. This award will be presented at the Head for the Cure 5k walk/run on August 24.
