Cheryl "Cheri" Diane Ferwalt, 64, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Saturday, December 6, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Elmer J. and Betty J. (Hauer) Dickerson.She departed this life at 8:21 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012, at the John Knox Village Care Hospice House, Lee's Summit, Missouri.

She was a 1965 South East High School Graduate. On November 1, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Ferwalt in Kansas City.

Cheri had been a processor with the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City for several years and owned and operated her own gas station in the Red Bridge area. She was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill.

She was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. Her infectious smile and contagious laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cheri was preceded in death by her father Elmer on May 20, 1999.

She is survived by her mother Betty Dickerson of Pleasant Hill; three children, Kimberly Ferwalt of Lee's Summit, Robert Ferwalt of Cameron, Missouri, and Jeffrey Ferwalt of Lee's Summit; three grandchildren Ashanta Ferwalt of Holden, Missouri, Haden Ferwalt of Lee's Summit, Samantha Ferwalt of Clinton, Missouri; three brothers Rick (and Janell) Dickerson of Kansas City, Phil (and Stella) Dickerson of Chino, California, and Dan Dickerson of Adrian, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Per Cheri's request her body has been donated to the Kansas University Medical Center for research.

The family will host a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Big Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Todd MacLean, minister of the church, will officiate. Music will be rendered by Nathan Lawrence and Robert Ferwalt. Scripture will be read by Haden Ferwalt. Inurnment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Buckner, Missouri at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Big Creek Baptist Church.
