Christina Danielle “Chrissy” Harms, 45, of Strasburg, has earned her wings, Wednesday, April 21, 2025, at her childhood home in Strasburg, after a long battle with cancer.
Chrissy was born November 15, 1979, the first daughter of Jack Allen and Vickie Renay (Ruddicks) Flippen and was proud of the fact that she shared her birthday with “Macho Man” Randy Savage and was every bit as flamboyant as him.
Chrissy was a precocious child who completely skipped the baby talking phase, took off walking at only six months old, and has been a force to be reckoned with ever since. She grew up primarily in Harrisonville and Strasburg. Upon graduating from Strasburg Elementary school, she attended high school in Pleasant Hill, Lone Jack, and Harrisonville. She was an honor student and excelled in basketball and softball. She went on to complete a medical assisting program at Concorde Career College.
Chrissy was a dynamic, vivacious, bundle of contradictions. She was covered in tattoos but hated needles. She loved horror movies and the occult but loved pastel-colored unicorns, soft plushies, and collecting toys. She was passionate about music and movies and maintained a lifelong interest in pro wrestling. Among her favorite wrestlers were Jake “The Snake” Roberts, The Road Warriors, Owen Hart, the Undertaker, Bruiser Brody and Bray Wyatt.
Her final endeavor was to spend as much time at her childhood home as the weather and cancer would allow. She knew her time was dwindling, and she wanted to pass at the resting place of her beloved cat, Cheech, surrounded by the comfort of the trees her dad helped her climb and the daffodils and crocuses her grandmother planted several decades ago. She secured permission from the owner, and despite the efforts of nosy busybodies, succeeded her wish.
Chrissy was far beyond stubborn, was a menace and a terror, but was fiercely loved. She was her fathers “Ol Cuscus”, her mother’s baby girl, and her children’s biggest fan. Her spunk, spirit, attitude, sarcasm, humor, infectious laugh, elite Tetris Skills and pizza burgers will be deeply missed.
Chrissy was preceded in death by her grandmother, Doris Wheeldon; her father, Jack Flippen; and two unborn daughters, Kiley and Evelyn.
She is survived by her mother, Vickie Flippen, of Pleasant Hill; children, Kevin (and Paige) Harris of Kansas City, Ashleigh (and Dustin) Jones of Harrisonville; Gabriel Harms of Cole Camp, Mason Harms of Miller, and Bo Harms of Sedalia; grandchildren, Liam, Harper, Nathaniel, David, and Kayce; siblings, Keeli, Thomas “T.J.” Presley, Randy Presley, and Jared Combs; nephew Chevy; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation has been accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date.
