Mr. Connie B. Dillon, 72, a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, was born September 5, 1941, in Pleasant Hill, the son of E.B. and Elsie V. (Buchanan) Dillon. He departed this life Thursday, April 3, 2014, at his home as a result of an accidental drowning, after falling into a well near his home.
Connie was a 1959 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.
On October 30, 1960 he was united in marriage to Willa K. Russell in Pleasant Hill. They have enjoyed nearly 54 years of marriage together.
Connie was employed as an autoworker for General Motors retiring in 1988; although retired from GM he continued working as an Angus Cattle Famer. He was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union Local #93 and a member of the Angus Association.
In his spare time he enjoyed mushroom hunting, golfing, NASCAR, and watching the K.C. Chiefs; he especially loved fishing.
The family would like for all of his friends and family to “ Catch a good fish or pick a nice mushroom; then have a drink for Connie. He died with his boots on!”
Connie was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Everett Dillon.
He is survived by his wife Willa of Pleasant Hill; two sons, Scott (and Linda) Dillon and Steve Dillon, of Pleasant Hill; three granddaughters, Cheyann Dillon of Los Angeles, California, Chelesy (and Perry) Hanes of Pleasant Hill, and Lindsey (and Jeremiah) Lutman of Stafford, Kansas; three great grandchildren; Jacob, Bella, and Trinity; one sister Pat (and Gary) Fuhr of Pleasant Hill; other relatives and a host of many, many friends.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Strasburg Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
