Cynthia R. Reeves

Cynthia Raye Reeves, 72, of Lawrence, Kansas, most recently of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born December 10, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Dan and Millie (Delay) Smith. She was diagnosed with ALS in January 2025 and succumbed to it five months later on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Dan and Millie had grown up in Colorado and Cindy spent the early years of her life in Denver. The family moved to Lawrence just before Cindy started school. She attended Central Junior high and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1971.

Soon after graduating she married Freddy Corbin Reeves. They continued making Lawrence home until he passed away in 2020 when she left their home and moved to an apartment. Declining health brought her closer to her family in Pleasant Hill.

Cindy worked most of her life at Hallmark Cards in Lawrence running a ribbon spooling machine. Later she worked for the DMV in Olathe; The Merc in Lawrence; and Sprouts in Lawrence. She was an avid animal lover and always had a dog or cat (or two) in her care.

Cindy was also preceded in death her parents and one brother, James Smith.

She is survived by her mother-in-law, Mary Faye Reeves of Lawrence; her children, Greg (and Angel) Reeves of Pleasant Hill and Jessica Reeves of Kansas City; six grandchildren, Adam (and Parsa) Reeves of San Francisco, California. Cole (and Mariah) Reeves of Lee’s Summit, Brett Reeves of Pleasant Hill, Kylee Reeves of Liberty, Grant Reeves and Erica Reeves, both of Pleasant Hill; one great grandson, Steel Reeves of Lee’s Summit; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded. No services are scheduled at this time.
