David Kimrey

David Ervin Kimrey, 72, of Pleasant Hill, was born, Friday, December 13, 1940, in Plato, Missouri, the son of Dave and Alice Marie (Bolding) Kimrey. He departed this life at 3:37 a.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013, at the Kansas University Medical Center.

David was a 1958, Northeast High School graduate. He served 10 years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.

On December 22, 1962, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline L. Sullenger in Independence, Missouri.

David was employed as a carpenter for C&P Construction of Lenexa, Kansas retiring in 2006. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Pleasant Hill, Carpenters Union Local # 1329 and was a member and past president of the Pleasant Hill Bit & Spur Club. He loved fishing, horseback riding, gardening and carpentry. He loved spending time with his family.

David was preceded in death by his father Dave in 2004 and his mother Alice preceded him in death seven days earlier on October 6, 2013.

He is survived by his wife Jackie of the home; one daughter Brenda (and Dale) Brown of Pleasant Hill; two sons, Tim (and Jenny) Kimrey and Jamie Kimrey, both of Pleasant Hill; seven grandchildren, Eric, Ashlie, Ryan, Abbie, Jeremy, Reagan, and Ethan; one sister, Mary Lou (and Roperto) Montoya of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; two brothers, Herb (and Lois) Kimrey of Pleasant Hill, and Bob (and CeCe) Kimrey of Kansas City; other relatives, and many friends.

Visitation wsa held Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church officiated. Graveside military services and internment were held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church Building Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
