David R. Yancey

July 7, 1954 — February 17, 2022

David Randall Yancey, 67, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, July 7, 1954, in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Carl Vernon, Jr., and Dorothy Mae (Frith) Yancey.  He departed this life, Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Lee’s Summit Medical Center surrounded with love and family.

David was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving his country spanning three decades.  He served during the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm, and Operation Desert Shield.  He had also served in Germany and Korea.

On November 30, 1985, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Swinson in Fayetteville, North Carolina; they enjoyed 36 years of marriage.

Before and after his time in the service he was employed as a Truck Driver for Southern Ag and Star Transport.  He enjoyed watching football, was an avid fisherman, and especially enjoyed a good round of poker.  Most importantly was time spent with family, especially the love of his life, Patricia.

David was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Pleasant Hill; five children, David (and Angela) Yancey, Jr. of Killen, Alabama, Starla (and John) Sullivan of Alpharetta, Georgia, Christopher Gene Walker of Pleasant Hill, Lin (and June) Yancey of  Killen, and Daniel Clyde (and Misty) Walker of Kansas City; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, his twin sister, Debbie (and Billy) Sprayberry of La Grange, Georgia, Marie Shellnutt of La Grange, and Sharon Frith of Montgomery, Alabama; other relative and friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

 

A Celebration of David’s life was held Monday, February 21, 2022, at the funeral home.  Reverends Harry and Loraine Hill officiated. Full military honors were conducted by the United States Army and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
