DEBORAH L. DAINS

Deborah Lynn Dains, 65, of Pleasant Hill, was born, December 11, 1951, in Kansas City, the daughter of Richard A. and Laura P. “Penny” (Carpenter) McManis. She departed this life, Sunday, June 11, 2017, at her home.

Debi was raised in Alaska while her family was stationed there and she later moved home to Kansas City where she attended Grandview High School.

In 1968, she was united in marriage to Ronald Youngblood and to this union two children Dawn and Richard Youngblood were born.  On November 1, 1979, she was united in marriage to Mike Dains and to this union three children, Michael, Jeremy and Matt Dains were born.

In 1991, Debi started her own business “New Image Janitorial” which she ran successfully while also being a homemaker until 2008.  She was currently employed as the Activities Director for the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center a job she had so much passion for.  Debi truly cared for the residents and absolutely enjoyed bringing smiles to their faces.  Debi recently started attending Grace Family Fellowship in Pleasant Hill and was very excited to strengthen her bond with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed fishing, connecting with friends and family on Facebook, and interacting with the residents at PHHRC; above all she enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren.

Debi was preceded in death by her father Richard McManis on October 24, 1968; her mother Penny Brown on March 14, 2016; and one great grandchild, Bentley Michael Nelson.

She is survived by her step father Sherman Brown of Pleasant Hill and one daughter, Dawn (and Jim) Starr of Holiday Island, Arkansas; four sons, Richard (and Hollie) Youngblood, Michael (and Jayme) Dains, Jeremy (and Heather) Dains, and Matthew Dains, all of Pleasant Hill; One brother John Friel of Kansas City, Missouri and one sister Sherry (Jamie) Ray of Pleasant Hill.  15 grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Bailey of Freeman; Samantha Reynolds of Holiday Island, Arkansas.  Ashton (Kelsey) Youngblood of Salt Lake City, Utah, Heather Woodall of Shell Knob, Bryce and Kelsey Youngblood of Harrisonville, Chad Woodall of Archie and Montana Volland of Pleasant Hill, Natsuki Taira Dains of Okinawa Japan, Morgan Anspaugh, Cooper Youngblood, Reece Dains, Gavin Youngblood, Korban Dains and Braxton Dains all of Pleasant Hill and 10 great grandchildren; 3 nieces and 3 nephews; and many relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the funeral home. Reverend Dave Gass officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jeremy Dains, Matthew Dains, Michael Dains, John Friel, Jamie Ray, Jim Starr and Richard Youngblood. Honorary casket bearers were Ashton Youngblood, Bryce Youngblood and Chad Woodall.

Memorial contributions are suggested the Pleasant Hill Lay Clergy Food Pantry and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
