Don King

November 11, 1938 — April 17, 2016

Don Wayne King, 77, of Pleasant Hill, was born, November 11, 1938, in Glasco, Kansas, the son of Richard B. and Lovena (Wisbey) King. He departed this life Sunday, April 17, 2016.

On July 9, 1959, he was united in marriage to Yulonda MarLou Wehmeier in Glasco, Kansas. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2011.

Don was United States Army Veteran; later transferring into the Army National Guard. He spent his entire career with the guard retiring in 1999. He has spent the last several years working at the Country Creek Golf course.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, playing cards and collecting an eclectic variety of things including powder horns. He was a 56 year member of the Jewel Lodge #480 A.F. & A.M., the Royal Arch Wyoming Chapter #43, the Ararat Shrine Temple, and current president of the Cass County Shrine Club.

Don was also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by two daughters, Kelly K. Rice and her husband Steve of Kansas City, Missouri, and Pamela L. Huish and her husband Stephen of Middletown, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Matthew J. Buffon of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Kathryn G. Buffon of Kansas City, Missouri, Kaylin R. Huish and Brett S. Huish both of Middletown; other relatives and a host of many friends. Cremation has been accorded.

Visitation was held Friday, April 29, 2016, at the funeral home with Masonic services following.

A celebration of Don's life was held Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the funeral home. Graveside military services and inurnment followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Army and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. Honorary casket bearers were Paul Beason, Matthew Buffon, Pat Garry, Jerrall Hayes, Brett Huish, Jim Purvis, Pete Sheehan, the late Mac McClagan and the late Bob Willis.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the V.F.W. Post #3118 Veterans Relief Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
