Donald Adams

Donald Raymond Adams, 80, of Pleasant Hill, was born December 3, 1934, just east of El Dorado Springs, the son of L. Paul and Marie (Mann) Adams. He departed this life Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at the Western Missouri Medical Center, Warrensburg, surrounded with love and family. Don had been a resident of the Missouri State Veterans Home in Warrensburg for several years.

Don graduated from the 8th grade in Lee's Summit and was a 1952 Pleasant Hill High School graduate. After graduating high school Don worked for his father's feed store and for the American Scale and Vice Co. In 1954 he enlisted in the Marine Corps proudly serving in the Japan and Hawaii during the Korean War. Upon returning home he attended the Kansas City Business College and graduated a Salutatorian of the 1960 class. He then went to work as an accountant at the General Motors Leed's Plant retiring in 1988. He served as president of the General Motors Salary Retiree Club for 4 years. He had also served as treasurer of the Lemon Drop Squares, the Silver Dollar Squares, the Heart of America Federation of Square Dance Clubs and the Trick Trackers. Don also served on the committee for the all school reunion at Pleasant Hill. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

On April 17, 2004, he was united in marriage to Wanda S. Eichelberger at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Raymore.

He is survived by his wife Wanda and her family. His daughter, Dianna (and Pascal) Eason, and his son David R. (and Jeni) Adams both of Pleasant Hill, and five grandsons. One step-daughter Jenny Fulton and her son Mason Fulton of Raymore. His sister Georgia Blackwell of Lee's Summit and his brother Junior (and Ruby) Adams of Warrensburg; other relatives; and a host of many friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Pastor Dave Owsley officiated. Graveside military services and interment were in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers were Brian Alexander, Daryl Alexander, Rick Blackwell, Mason Fulton, Mark Greenstreet, and Wendell Stegner. Honorary casket bearers were Peter Homburg and Chuck Johnson.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
