Donald Wayne Bunnell, 65, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Tuesday, September 10, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Elmer Lee and Ethel May (Clark) Bunnell. He departed this life at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at his home in Pleasant Hill.
Don was a 1964 Pleasant Hill High School Graduate. He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. He was a veteran of the United State Army proudly serving during the Vietnam War.
On June 5, 1987 he was united in marriage to Sharon Kay (Luetjen) Flippin in Pleasant Hill at the United Methodist Church.
Don was as an electrician for most of his career. After a career change, he retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 2011. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and a Life Member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #3118.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; two sons Michael Flippin of the home; and Kenneth (and Miranda) Flippin of Grain Valley; one daughter Cheri (and Curtis) Heldstab of Buda, Texas; four grandchildren Austin Flippin, Alex Heldstab, MacKenzie Heldstab, and Katy Heldstab; two other children from previous marriages: son- Scott and daughter- Wendy; other relatives and many friends.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services were held Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Reverend Carl Knapp minister of the church officiated. Mrs. Cheri Heldstab gave the eulogy. The Final Salute ceremony and full military honors were performed by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3118 Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
