Dorothy Marie “Sue” Kitchell, 80, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri (formerly of Wildwood) was born September 8, 1945, in St. Louis, the daughter of Charles W. Sr. and Dorothy L. (Geigel) Schuermann (both deceased). She departed this life peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, surrounded with love and family.
Dorothy was a 1963 graduate of the St. Thomas Aquinas High School in St. Louis.
She was employed as an accountant, working for General Dynamics, Webster University and Washington University. She later worked for Kansas City Hospice until her retirement in 2020. She enjoyed the casinos, watching television (especially Young Sheldon and Big Bang Theory), and relished day trips with her sisters. She also enjoyed crafting, sewing, doll making, and was a writer at heart. Above all she loved time spent with family.
Dorothy’s family includes her two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Sara Kitchell of Pleasant Hill, and Sean and Holly Kitchell of Stanley, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Emma Kitchell, Charlie Kitchell, and Josie Kitchell; and her siblings, Charles Jr. “Butch” (and Rose Ann) Schuermann, Laura Schuermann, and Virginia “Ginnie” Schuermann, all of Chesterfield, Missouri; Robert “Bob” (and Marie) Schuermann of Defiance, Missouri; Barbara (and Marlin) Rohan of Wright City, Missouri; Jacqueline “Jackie” (deceased) (and William “Bill”) Glenn of Creve Coeur, Missouri; and Mary (infant, deceased) Schuermann. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marianne (and David) Kitchell of Union, Missouri; and multiple generations of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Cremation has been accorded. Inurnment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (A.S.P.C.A) and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
