Dorothy C. Owens, 97, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Wednesday, July 6, 1910 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of William B. and Emma J. (Phillips) Ravenscroft. She departed this life Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Truman Medical Center-Lakewood, Kansas City, Missouri.

On August 27, 1928, Dorothy was united in marriage to Boyd J. Owens in Kansas City, Missouri.

Dorothy was a school teacher in the Pleasant Hill, Strasburg and Peculiar area for many years.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 1 son Charles H. Ravenscroft, 2 grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by 2 sons Boyd M. & wife Betty Owens of Sugar Creek, Missouri and James C. & wife Gale Owens of Camel River, British Columbia, Canada; 2 daughters Carol D. and husband John Fitzmaurice of Atlanta Georgia and Joy L. Owens of Seattle, Washington; 17 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Robert Ravenscroft, Dan Smith, John Fitzmaurice, Mick Owens, Michael Dillard, and Denton Morris. Honorary casket bearers were Brett Ravenscroft, Ryan Ravenscroft, Jeff Costello, David Owens, and James Owens.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
