Douglas E. Lansdale

October 19, 1955 — May 13, 2022

Douglas Eugene Lansdale, 66, of Independence, Missouri, was born October 19, 1955, in Oildale, California, the son of Doyle F. and Betty J. (Bond) Lansdale.  He departed this life, Friday, May 13, 2022, at North Kansas City Hospital surrounded with love and family. 

On September 18, 2018, he was united in marriage to Patricia (Ann McCarty) in Independence.  They had been together since 1992.

Doug was employed as an Autoworker for the Ford Motor Company.  He was also a gifted mechanic working for several area shops in the Kanas City area. Prior to his time at Ford he had also worked for Columbian Steel in Kansas City, Kansas.  He was a member of the United Auto Workers #249 and the ABATE Motorcycle Club in Kansas City.  He enjoyed going to garage and estate sales, rodeos, car races, and his motorcycle.  He was gifted at working with his hands and could fix or build anything he put his mind to.  He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Doyle Lansdale, Jr. 

He is survived by his wife Patricia of Independence; his son Joshua (and Jennifer) Lansdale of Blue Springs; daughter Andrea Shipley of Kansas City; step-son Bryon Gillespie of Grain Valley; daughter-in-law Angie Gillespie of Grain Valley; nine grandchildren, Frankie Lansdale, Ayden Lansdale, Brinkley Lansdale; Nathan Gillespie, Mason Gillespie, Aleasha Murphy, Landon Murphy, Lauren Bunch, and Lindsey Gillespie; one sister, Brenda (and Cliff) Austin of Independence; other relatives and friends.  He also leaves his best friend, Bailey the Sheltie.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Reverend Joey Lansdale officiated.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
