Edna Madelene Yadon, 91, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Thursday, July 25, 1918 in Holden, Missouri, the daughter of James Vest and Edna Fern (Walters) Rodgers. She departed this life at 11:03 P.M. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Crown Care Center in Harrisonville.
On November 9, 1956, Madelene was united in marriage to David Austin Yadon in Pleasant Hill. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1971.
Madelene had been employed by the Holden Sewing Factory, the Burlington Shirt Factory in Pleasant Hill and Rupert Plastics in Blue Springs, retiring in 1980. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the I.O.O.F-Rebekah's receiving her 50 year pin in 1997.
She was an avid collector and over the years compiled an assortment of blue birds, sugar bowls, thimbles, dolls and Christmas Ornaments.
Madelene was also preceded in death by one son James M. Blair, her two brothers Allen Rodgers and Raymond Rodgers and one granddaughter Briona Bradshaw.
She is survived by two sons Dean (and Vicky) Bradshaw of Pleasant Hill and Steve (and Robin) Blair of Lee's Summit; one daughter Jean Talbert of Harrisonville; 9 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; 2; Great-Great Grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the funeral home. Pastor Carl Knapp of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Steven Blair, Scott Bradshaw, Danny Talbert, Mike Caldwell, Wade Baldridge, and Dan Steen. Honorary casket bearers were Scott Blair, Clayton Bradshaw, Jon Mark Daily, Clint Dinges, Paul Layman, and Bill Whitworth.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church or Crossroads Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
