Bebe Bruns 88, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was called by the Lord on March 6, 2012, as she succumbed to injuries sustained in a fatal car accident while on her way home from teaching a painting class. She was born Flora Mary Garcia on September 26, 1923, in Los Angeles, California, to Joseph and Julia Garcia.

Bebe was an accomplished artist, art teacher, pianist, and sportswoman; but her biggest accomplishment was her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and mother-in-law.

She was a member of the Artist Association, Mary Foundation, Padre Pio Foundation, and active member of St. Bridget Parish in Pleasant Hill. She was thoughtful and welcoming, always thinking of others, an inspiration to all. A true enthusiast of enjoying the moment, she loved life and all it had to give. Her magnetic and vibrant personality made her shine wherever she went. Her happy laughter still lingers in our ears and her memory, as a ray of sunshine, warms our hearts.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Joe Garcia, Tony Garcia, and sister Dolores Bell.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, John D. Bruns of the home, her children Dr. John W. Bruns and wife Laurie, of Lafayette, California, Joseph Bruns and wife Tammy, of Redding, California, Dr. Jerry Bruns and wife Jeanne, of Camarillo, California, James Bruns, Esq. and wife Migdalia, of Simi Valley, California, Dr. Jeffrey Bruns and wife Diane, of Alamo, California, and Jeanette Herrera, of Simi Valley, California, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and brothers Richard Garnett and James Garnett, of southern California.

Bebe was a woman of great faith, and her family draws comfort from the knowledge that their beloved Bebe is now in the presence of the Lord.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Monsignor Robert Murphy officiated. Pianist was Mrs. Laura Worms and the soloist was Mrs. Laurie Himmelberg. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Dean Armstrong, Eric Bruns, Keri Bruns, Nick Bruns, James Garnett, Richard Garnett, Martin Gray and Jim Wasson.

Visitation with the recitation of the rosary was held Friday evening at the funeral home. Visitation was also held prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Padre Pio Foundation and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
