GABRIEL L. SMITH
Gabriel “Gabe” Lindsey Smith, 22, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, June 24, 1998, in Kansas City, the son of Nelson ”Lin” Lindsey Smith and Traci Ann (Hawks) Smith. He departed this life, Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the Centerpoint Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Gabe was a 2017 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.
Gabe was currently serving as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He was also employed as a Union Concrete Finisher for the Epic Concrete Company, Kansas City. He was a proud member of the Masons and Plasterer’s Union Local #518 and the RPM Racing Club. He enjoyed hunting, building hot rods, playing video games, watching football, and he was die-hard Patriots fan.
Gabe was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Nancy Sue Hawks.
He is survived by his fiancée Brooke Young who is expecting their child, Julien Lindsey Smith in February; his parents, Lin and Traci Smith; two brothers, Jacob Daniel Smith and Levi Allen Smith; paternal grandparents, Ronald L. and Sue D. Smith; maternal grandfather, Melvin M. “Butch” Hawks; three uncles, Melvin Craig (and Phyllis) Hawks, Donald Hawks, and Edward K. Hawks; other relatives and a host of many friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, September 27, 2020, at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 28, 2020, at the funeral home. Reverend Michael Williams officiated. Casket bearers were Kevin Barrett, Hayden Decker, Ethan Maynard, Jake Smith, Brandon Young, and Rodney Young. Graveside military services and interment followed in the Strasburg Cemetery with full military honors by the United States Marine Corps.
Memorial contributions for baby Julien are requested and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
