Chief Petty Officer Gary Jan Fazel US Navy (Ret), 84, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born January 10, 1941, in Richland Center, Wisconsin, the son of Marian and Marcelain (Baker) Fazel. He departed this life Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Raintree Assisted Living Center in Lee's Summit.

In 1962 he was united in marriage to Rosalind Bloss; they divorced in 1984. On March 23, 1991, he was united in marriage to Alice R. (Cochran) Foote in Itasca, Illinois; she preceded him in death on October 9, 2022.

Gary was a United States Navy Vietnam War era veteran. He proudly served his country for twenty-two years retiring from the Navy in 1979 as a Tradevman E-7. During this time he served as a flight landing instructor at Whiting Field (Milton, Florida), Naval Air Station (Norfolk, Virginia), Cecil Field (Jacksonville, Florida), and Naval Air Station (Pensacola, Florida). Following his career in the navy he furthered his career as an electrical engineer with Leeds-Northrup, which would later become Honeywell and UOP from which he retired in 1999 as a Senior Development Engineer.

He was a former member of the United Methodist Church and First Christian Church, both of Pleasant Hill, and was a current member of the Raymore First Christian Church. He also served Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and bowling. He and Alice loved traveling across the country, and they both loved to square dance. He had a great sense of humor, was just a little ornery, and loved to give people a hard time in a most good-natured way.

Gary was also preceded in death by his parents, Marian and Marcelain; stepfather, Howard Brown; and two sisters, Jean Bruhn and Karen Whiteford.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Fazel of Irondale, Alabama and Deborah (and Byron) Galey-Tucker of Springville, Alabama; one stepson, Sean (and Sudha) Foote of Redwood City, California; four grandchildren, Gil Gailey of Trussville, Alabama, Jonathan (and Aly) Blue of Olathe, Kansas, Monica Mallon of Sunnyvale, California, and Henry Mallon of Azusa, California; six great grandchildren, Adele, Zephyr, Sofia, Ezra, Aurora, and Adanai; one brother, Walt (and Nancy) Fazel of Burlington, Illinois; one sister, Darlene (and Rick) Rehak of Delavan, Wisconsin; other relatives and friends.
