Lawrence Eugene Davis, 87, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born Monday, November 3, 1924 near Appleton City, the youngest son of William and Martha Erman (Carrell) Davis. He departed this life at 5:40 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Lee's Summit Medical Center.

On October 7, 1950, he was united in marriage to Naomi Faye Bailey in Appleton City. They enjoyed over 62 years of marriage.

Gene spent his early years in Bates County and attended Reynard School. In 1943 he moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he was employed by various places as a welder. He spent 24 years at Black, Sivalls, & Bryson; later retiring from Shick Tubeveyor in February 1987. Gene was a member of the Strasburg Union Church. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his shop.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Gene is survived by his wife Naomi of the home; two sons Kenneth Eugene Davis and his wife Marie of Lee's Summit, and Roy William Davis and his wife Julie of Oak Grove; four grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the funeral home. Reverend John Clark of the Strasburg Union Church officiated. Casket bearers were Matt Chisesi, Bradley Davis, Ryan Day, Charlie Harris, Gary Rapp, and Kyle Mueller. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Strasburg Union Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
