GENE L. FAULKENBERRY
Gene Lee Faulkenberry, 92, of Lone Jack, Missouri, was born October 21, 1927, in Lone Jack, the son of Elmer Albert and Pearl Irene (Fann) Faulkenberry. He departed this life, Saturday, February 29, 2020.
Gene graduated from the Lone Jack High School in 1945. He spent four years (1951-1955) in the US Air Force as a photographer - 18 months of which was spent in the Philippines. He graduated from Indiana Technical College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a Bachelors of Science in Electronic Engineering in 1959.
On May 28, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mary Etta Ramsey in Lone Jack. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2012.
Gene spent his working years as a technical writer working on military manuals. He retired from the Sperry Microwave Corporation in Clearwater, Florida, in 1985 after 21 years with the firm. After retirement, Gene and Mary returned to Lone Jack where they were active in the Lone Jack Civic Club, the Lone Jack Battlefield Museum, the Lone Jack Cemetery, and the Lone Jack Baptist Church. Gene spent his remaining years on his family farm.
Gene was also preceded in death by his parents and twin sisters, Wilma Murial Mallicoat and Wanda Pearl Cassidy.
He is survived by his three children, Teresa Ann Faulkenberry and husband, Jim Tempesta, of Havana, Florida, retired Air Force Major General Barbara Jean Faulkenberry of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Russell Irwin Faulkenberry of the home; three grandchildren, Jesse Jay Faulkenberry and his wife Dachelle Malese (Sutton) of Tarsney Lakes, Missouri, Alicia Lee Faulkenberry of the home, and Curtis Andrew Faulkenberry of the home; four great grandchildren, Tristan Jay Faulkenberry, Isobella Paige Faulkenberry, Jacob Russell Faulkenberry, and Sadie Elizabeth Anne Davenport; two step great grandchildren, Makaleigh Loclyn Berry and Marvin Lee Sutton; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at the Lone Jack Baptist Church. Reverend Jerry Tharp officiated. Burial was in the Lone Jack Cemetery with full military honors by the United States Air Force and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor guard. Casket bearers were Russell Faulkenberry, Jesse Faulkenberry, Curtis Faulkenberry, Tristan Faulkenberry, Michael Davenport, and Michael Hawkins.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lone Jack Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
