Gene Linthicum

September 29, 1948 — April 12, 2015

Lean Gene Linthicum, 66, of Mound City, Kansas, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born September 29, 1948, in Harrisonville, the son of Alvin S. and Helen M. (Outon) Linthicum. He departed this life at 11:04 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Olathe Medical Center, surrounded with love and family.

Gene was a 1968 Pleasant Hill High School Graduate. He was a United States Navy Veteran proudly serving aboard the USS Henry B. Wilson during the Vietnam War.

On August 25, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Donna Jean Roberts in East Lynn, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 30, 2010.

Gene was employed in the Water Department for the City of Pleasant Hill for 27 years. Following his retirement from the city he worked for the Lake City Ammunition Plant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Gene was also preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jayson Linthicum; one sister Alice Pennington; one half brother, Arvid Linthicum; and one half sister, Tessa Linthicum.

He is survived by one son Douglass (and Amanda) Linthicum of Mound City; five grandchildren Rebeka, Trevor, Alyssa, Shawn, and Brandon; two brothers, Jim Linthicum of Belton, and Dean (and Lynn) Linthicum of Pleasant Hill; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Thursday April 16 at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 17, 2015, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated. Graveside military services and interment followed in the Swan Lake Memory Park Cemetery, Grain Valley, with full military honors by the U.S Navy and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the V.F.W. Post #3118, Pleasant Hill and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
