Norman Glen Shore, 86, of Strasburg, was born April 20, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Paul and Hazel (Kimsey) Shore. He departed this life at 10:53 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at John Knox Village Hospice Center.
Glen was a Paseo High School graduate and a proud World War II United States Navy Veteran.
In November 1946 he was united in marriage to Martha Ann Whisler in Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2008.
Right out of the Navy Glen went straight into farming. He owned and operated his farm near Strasburg all of his adult life. He was a gifted story teller and loved visiting and talking with friends.
He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Robbie Shore, and his sister Alene Duvall.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Glen (and Patricia) Shore, and Tony (and Brenda) Shore all of Kingsville; one daughter Linda (and William) Tye of Evansville, Indiana; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; other relatives; and a host of many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 6, 2014, at the funeral home. Pastor Butch Shewmaker officiated. Interment was in the Strasburg Cemetery. Casket bearers were Michael Hulett, Eric Lubke, Memo Medina, Randy Seid, Martin Shore, and Steven Shore. Honorary casket bearers were Chad VanHoesen and Larry Meeks.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Village Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
