Graylan Louis Clark, 74, lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, was born June 26, 1950, in Harrisonville, the son of Milton “Mutt” and Dolores May (Wilmoth) Clark. He departed this life Saturday October 5, 2024, surrounded with love and family.
One night Graylan saw Marsha Sue Knorr dancing and knew instantly that he was going to marry her. They were united in marriage on September 4, 1979, in Miami, Oklahoma. From the moment he saw her to the second he left us he was convinced that she was the most beautiful woman in the world. On May 3, 1980, Graylan and Marsha dedicated their lives to Jehovah in baptism.
On November 12, 1981, their daughter, Sarah Beth, was born. She spent the first six months of her life insisting on being held only by Marsha, unless she was asleep, then Gray could hold her. Sarah would spend the next 41 1/2 years being a daddy's girl. His last words to her, when asked if he knew who he was talking to, was "that's my hard-headed daughter Sarah Beth. Eight years later on December 1, 1989, Graylan and Marsha welcomed the best surprise in Abigail Mae. Graylan was so proud because everyone would assume he was her grandpa to which he would puff out his chest and with a huge grin would say "Nope she's my baby girl". Abby took care of dad every day and without her care and nursing we wouldn't have had him for as long as we did.
In 2006 and 2008 Graylan became “Pappoo” to the apples of his eye Von Graylan and Jaxon Clark. Pappoo watched his boys from the time they were six weeks old until they went to school. He dropped them off each morning and was the first car in the pickup line every afternoon. He was a part of their foundation and safe place. Pappoo helped them to come to love Jehovah and was the proudest Pappoo on earth when his boys dedicated their lives to Jehovah in baptism.
Graylan owned and operated G&M Automotive and later Clark’s Cleaning, LLC. He was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Pleasant Hill Congregation.
Gray never knew a stranger. He could, and would, talk to anyone. First and foremost, he would share his love for Jehovah God and His son Jesus Christ. He would say that becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses is what saved his life. If he wasn't sharing his faith he was talking about hot rods or motorcycles. His stories where legendary and with each retelling those stories would grow just a bit. He was not a man of few words.
Graylan was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kyle Clark. He is survived by his love, Marsha; his children Sarah (and Brice) Barnaby, Abigail Mae Clark, Travis (and April) Clark, and Tanya Clark; grandsons Von Barnaby and Jaxon Barnaby; one brother Robin (and Linda) Clark and one sister Helen Rhodes; several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a huge extended spiritual family. He also leaves behind his canine companions, “sweet girl” Stella Rose and “good boy” Sam who kept him constant company these last few years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and we anxiously await the day we can see him again in perfect health.
A memorial service was held Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Pleasant Hill. His brother Robin Clark gave the memorial talk.
