Harold Robert Alexander

August 21, 1948 — November 18, 2024

Overland Park, Kansas

Harold Robert Alexander, 76, of Overland Park, Kansas, was born August 21, 1948, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, the son of Ray C. and Helen J. (McIntyre) Alexander. He departed this life on Monday, November 18, 2024, surrounded by family.

He was a 1966 Pleasant Hill High School graduate. In his youth, he was an avid baseball and football player. He graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. During his studies, he became a member of the Tau Beta Pi academic engineering fraternity.

On August 17, 1969, Harold Robert was united in marriage to Candice Jean Henson in Holden, Missouri, and to this union four children Paul, Ruth, Micah Ray, and John were born. He was always a man who prioritized his family. When his children were young, he coached their little league teams. He was steadfast in bringing his family to church every Sunday. He set an amazing example for his children to follow with their own families and careers.

He was an Electrical Engineer for Black & Veatch for more than 41 years, where he enjoyed designing power plants and advanced manufacturing facilities that were built all over the world, retiring in 2010. He was professionally licensed with the Kansas, Missouri, and Arizona boards of technical professions.

Harold Robert was a man of strong faith. At a young age he attended a tent revival, where he was saved by Jesus Christ, and he served the Lord for the rest of his days. He was a Deacon at the Red Bridge Baptist Church in Kansas City and after moving to Kansas, he became an active member of the Overland Park Baptist Church, where he participated in many bible studies.

He also enjoyed reading (especially the Bible, which he read daily), gardening, fishing, watching KU basketball and Kansas City Chiefs football, and traveling to visit his grown children and grandchildren.

Harold Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Candice of Overland Park, Kansas; his four children, Paul (and Debby) Alexander of Overland Park, Ruth (and Brett) Platt of Plano, Texas, Micah Ray (and Melissa) Alexander of Chandler, Arizona, and John (and Nicole) Alexander of Pasadena, Maryland; ten grandchildren, Parker Alexander, Benjamin Alexander, Alana Platt, Brennen Platt, Calleigh Platt, Delaney Platt, Quinn Alexander, Graham Alexander, Lula Alexander, and Wade Alexander; three brothers, Ray Murray Alexander of Pleasant Hill, Larry Alexander of Independence, Missouri, and Jim (and Barb) Alexander of Pleasant Hill; and other relatives and friends.

All services were held Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
