Heather Parris

Heather Ann Parris, 58, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, January 3, 1956, in Holden, Missouri, the daughter of Earl Wilson and Clarice Jean (Ferguson) Mitchell. She departed this life at 12:44 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Vitas Hospice Center of Research Hospital, Kansas City.

Heather was a 1974 Pleasant Hill high school graduate.

On January 11, 1974, she was united in marriage to Ronald Parris in Pleasant Hill. He survives although they are no longer married.

Heather started her pharmacy career in high school working at the Rexall Chamber & Buckner’s Pharmacy in Pleasant Hill as a Soda Jerk. She went on to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician for St. Mary’s Hospital and for the last 27 years at the Sams Prescription Shop in Raytown. She was a former member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher, was a member of the United Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill and was currently attending the Southview Baptist church. She was a member and former secretary of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Pleasant Hill.

In her spare time she enjoyed nature walks, sightseeing, reading, and spending time with her family. She loved watching movies, especially movies adapted from books she read. Her friends and customers will remember her as the sweetest person you could know. She was always happy and positive with a strength and determination unparalleled by anyone. Her entire life was lived with a steadfast faith and love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Heather was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Ronald Earl Parris, and an infant granddaughter Malie Lashay.

She is survived by two daughters, Misha Parris and Kelly (and Joey) Geier, both of Pleasant Hill; one brother, Gary (and Laura) Mitchell of Harrisonville, Missouri; two sisters, Anna Marie (and Joseph) Shepherd of Warsaw, Missouri, and Mary Mitchell of Apex, North Carolina; other relatives; and host of many friends.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Reverend Sean Brooks of the Southview Baptist Church, Raytown, officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Kurt Brent, John Frick, Joey Geier, Chris Linville, Dennis Ross, Colby Yoder and Steve Yoder. Honorary casket bearers were Dennis Elliott, Gary Mitchell, Ronnie Parris and Russell Parris.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Lay-Clergy Council and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
