Jami Lynne Hede, 63, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born October 12, 1958, in Kansas City, the daughter of Robert “Bob” H. and Joyce E. (Maret) Dustman. She departed this life, Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Kansas City Hospice House.
On November 8, 2003, she was united in marriage to John Ernest Hede in Edwardsville, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2014.
Jami was a 1976 Logan-Rogersville High School graduate. She earned her bachelor's degree from Southwest Missouri State University in Communication Disorders. Later she earned a master's degree from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.
Jami worked as a Speech Pathologist with children in public schools and adults in nursing homes. She took pride in her work and loved to play with the kids. She specialized in swallowing issues and dementia in adults.
She was a member of the Amazing Grace Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3118 Auxiliary, both in Pleasant Hill. She enjoyed reading, singing and listening to music, horses, knitting, and was an avid fan of science fiction, especially Star Trek.
Jami was also preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Dustman on February 6, 2011.
She is survived by her father, Bob Dustman of Pleasant Hill; her brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Stephanie Dustman of Pleasant Hill; two nieces, Hannah Dustman of Pleasant Hill and Rachel Dustman of Kansas City; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial service was held Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Robert Malone officiated. Inurnment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Amazing Grace Lutheran Church or the V.F.W. Post #3118 Auxiliary and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
