Jeffrey Bruce “Jeff” Johnson, 71, of Strasburg, Missouri, was born, July 1, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John Frederic and Dolores Lavinia (Haggard) Johnson. He departed this life, after a brief illness on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his home.
As a young man, Jeff was a member of the Boys Scouts, DeMolay, and Civil Air Patrol. He attended Westport High School and graduated from Center High School in 1971. He went on to attend college at the University of Missouri at Rolla, earning a BA in physics and a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
Right out of college Jeff worked for Western Electric/AT&T in Lee’s Summit in one of the first clean room labs for computer chips. In the early 80’s he became a small business owner and bought and operated the Pleasant Hill Pool Hall, the oldest Pool Hall west of the Mississippi. He enjoyed tinkering with electronics, anything related to some type of science including learning how to make his own fireworks, reading, playing the guitar and banjo, and playing pool.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his three siblings, Judy Johnson of Kansas City, John Curtis (and Cathy) Johnson of Overland Park, and Cameron Johnson of Kansas City; 8 nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews; one Uncle-David Haggard of Lee’s Summit and many cousins and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
A celebration of his life was held July 1st at the Pleasant Hill Pool Hall, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Memorial contributions are suggested, in lieu of flowers, to the Pleasant Hill Lay Clergy Council.
