Jimmie LeRoy Niner, 87, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born August 7, 1938, in Rose Hill, Iowa, the son of Roy Peter and Lois Ida (Staecker) Niner. He departed this life Monday, April 27, 2026, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.

Jimmie was a 1956 Grinnell, Iowa, graduate.

On September 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to Patricia Dillon at the First Christian Church in Union, Iowa. To this union five children, Tim, David, Denise, LeeAnn, and Steven were born.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving from August 17, 1956, to August 16, 1960, where he served as a Flight Engineer. Following his active duty in the Air Force he joined the reserves serving in the 442nd Tactical Air Lift wing. He also went to work for Trans World Airlines (T.W.A.) where he taught aircraft systems to pilots until retirement. He enjoyed reading, working with his boys in the garage, and working on anything mechanical, especially cars and his motorcycle.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Patricia of Pleasant Hill; his five children, Tim (and Judy) Niner of Blairstown, Iowa, David (and Pat) Niner of Pleasant Hill, Denise Carpenter of Huffman, Texas, LeeAnn Bray (and Jerry Harris) of Pleasant Hill, and Steven (and Lisa) Niner of Lee’s Summit; twelve grandchildren, Kari (and Brian) Todd, Jacob (and Gabriel) Niner, Christy (and Chris) Harrison, Katie (and Ben) Griffin, Kendra Niner, Michelle (and Jeremy) O’Neal, Heather (and Sean) Dunn, Lindsey (and Chris) Reeves, Brandon (and Ashlyn) Bray, Dillon (and Brenna) Bray, Alex Niner, and Haley Niner; fifteen great grandchildren; two foreign exchange students, Oliver “Ollie” Charpentier Belgium and Tomoko “Tommi” Tachinami Japan; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded. No services are scheduled at this time.

Inurnment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill V.F.W. Post #3118 and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
