Mrs. Jo Frances Baker 81, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Saturday, January 24, 1931, in Rondo, Missouri, the daughter of Lawrence Dorsey and Georgianna Catherine (Cooper) Bays. She departed this life Thursday, December 27, 2012, at her home near Pleasant Hill.

She was a 1948 Weaubleau High School graduate and earned a teaching certificate from SW Baptist College.

On September 30, 1950, she was united in marriage to Bud Baker in Harrison, Arkansas. Jo was a Tax Auditor with the Internal Revenue Service for 28 years retiring in 1992.

She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Lioness club, Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3118, and Ivy Leaf Chapter #215. She and Bud loved to travel and spend their winters in Mission, Texas. She was an avid shopper, and always loved a good sale.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Randall H. Baker on October 11, 2006.

She is survived by her husband Bud of the home; one daughter Cheryll L. (and Randy) Wilburn of Archie, Missouri; and one son Ron (and Lori) Baker of Pleasant Hill; six grandchildren Jesse (and Jessica) Baker of Junction City, Kansas, Kathryn Baker of Harrisonville, Philip Wilburn of Archie, Grant (and Marlana) Wilburn of Columbia, Missouri, Samantha Baker and Sara Baker of Pleasant Hill; two great grandchildren Jace & Jasmyn; her brother Donald (and Glenda) Bays of Lee's Summit, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 31, 2012 at the funeral home. Pastor Preston Sanders of the Strasburg Baptist Church officiated. Casket bearers were Philip Wilburn, Grant Wilburn, Jesse Baker, Bruce Wallen, Allen Bays, and Stuart Bays. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Visitation was held Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Pleasant Hill Meals on Wheels or the Strasburg Baptist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
