JOAN A. ADLER
Joan Alberta Adler, 81, of Pleasant Hill, was born, January 14, 1939, in Kingsville, the daughter of John Albert and Anna Pearl (Keller) Gammon. She departed this life, Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the John Knox Village Hospice House surrounded with love and family.
Joan was a 1958 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.
She worked for Western Electric retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill 1 st Presbyterian Church. Joan enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, reading, traveling, and going to garage sales and auctions. She loved animals especially dogs and had a large collection of dog figurines. She was also an Elvis fan and had quite the collection of Elvis memorabilia. She was an avid supporter of our veterans.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Frances Draper, Mamie Miller, and Velma Brown.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy P. Hoover of Pleasant Hill; 5 grandchildren, Amanda (and Zack) Allen of Mercer, Kelly Hoover of Knob Noster, Kevin (and Shannon) Hoover of Lee’s Summit, Debbie Hoover-Vires of Fallon, Nevada, and Holly Hoover of Kansas City; four great grandchildren, Morgan, Kaytlann, Curtis, and Dean; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday evening, February 27, 2020, at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Friday February 28, 2020, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated. Interment was in the Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery. Casket bearers were Gene Edward, Amanda Allen, Kelly Hoover, Kevin Hoover, Shannon Hoover, Debbie Hoover-Vires, and Holly Hoover.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Animal Shelter and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
