Joseph Hocker

Joseph Edwin Hocker, 88, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Friday, November 2, 1923 in Everett, Missouri, the son of Raymond and Margaret Elizabeth (Luckeman) Hocker. Joe was named after his paternal grandfather, Joseph Edwin Hocker 1859-1923, who died prior to Joe's birth. He departed this life at 10:34 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Joe was a lifelong Cass County resident. He was a 1941 graduate of Archie High School. On August 15, 1948, Joe was united in marriage to Lorene Anna Hackmann in New Franklin, Missouri.

He was a well known and respected Carpenter in Cass County, where he built and remodeled many homes, and was a proud member of the of the Local Carpenters Union #777 for over 60 years. He was also a faithful member of the Harrisonville First Christian Church, the Missouri Haflinger/Draft Pony Association, Greater Kansas City Antique Tractors Association, Kansas City Model A Club, Senior Citizens of Cass County/Pleasant Hill and the Harrisonville Optimist Club.

Besides his parents, He was preceded in death by two brothers Harold Hocker and Glenn Hocker.

He is survived by his wife Lorene of Pleasant Hill; one son Roger (and Cheri) Hocker of Kingsville; two daughters Janice (and Tom) Britz of Peculiar, and Carol (and Junior) Ross of Pleasant Hill; two brothers Walter (and Mary) Hocker of Harrisonville, and Lyle (and Beverly) Hocker of Lee's Summit; two sisters Evelyn Daniels of St. George, Utah, and Nadine Vandiver of Harrisonville; Eight grandchildren; Twenty great grandchildren; Four great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011, at the funeral home. Reverend Adam Harmon of the Harrisonville First Christian Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers are Rick Aldrige, Jared Britz, Travis Britz, Ryan Droege, Travis Minor, Marty Ross, and Monty Ross.

Visitation will be held 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Harrisonville First Christian Church Memorial Fund or Pleasant Hill Senior Citizens and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
