Joshua S. Byard

Joshua Stevenn “Josh” Byard, 31, of Knob Noster, Missouri, was born October 6, 1993, in Mount Holly, New Jersey. He departed this life Monday, July 21, 2025, at the Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Josh was a 2012 Lee’s Summit High School graduate. While in high school he excelled in robotics, later mentoring others in the field. He attended the University of Missouri at Rolla Engineering Program and graduated from Longview Community College.

On December 31, 2021, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Mayfield in Sedalia.

Josh had been employed at Wal-Mart in Lee’s Summit and at the Dollar General Stores in Pleasant Hill and Lone Jack. He enjoyed robotics, gaming, and caring for their two cats, Cassie and Oreo.

Josh is survived by his wife Liz of Knob Noster; father, Gregory Byard of Lee’s Summit; mother and stepfather, Michelle (and Ray) Sandy of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; five siblings, Christopher Michael (and Martha) Byard of Ball, Louisiana, Jonathan Keith Byard of Houston, Texas, Benjamin Josef (and Aerika) Byard of San Diego, California, Courtney (and Nathan) Schumaker of Lee’s Summit; and Nathanial Ray Sandy of Pleasant Hill; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Cremation is to be accorded. No services are scheduled.
