Joyce Dustman

Joyce Earlene (Maret) Dustman, 76, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, formerly of Rogersville, Missouri, was born Saturday, December 8, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Earl and Della Mae (Holder) Maret. She departed this life at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at her home.

She was united in marriage to Robert Dustman on October 15, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Joyce grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Paseo High School, class of 1953. She earned her Bachelor's degree from William Jewell College in 1957, later earning her Master's degree from Southwest Missouri State University. She was an elementary school teacher for Calvary Lutheran in Kansas City and later in Springfield for the Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary School.

She was a member of the P.E.O. chapter in Overland Park, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority at William Jewell, the Lee's Summit Quilt Guild, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and was dedicated to fundraising activities for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for individuals, families, and organizations in need, and an active and faithful member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Lee's Summit. Her granddaughters were the joy of her life and she enjoyed quality time with them.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Beverly Maret and Patricia Maret.

Joyce is survived by her husband Bob of the home; one daughter Jami and John Hede of Eaton, Ohio, one son Greg and Stephanie Dustman and two granddaughters Hannah Dustman and Rachel Dustman of Pleasant Hill; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 11, 2011, at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Pastors Nathaniel Schwartz and Jon Gruen officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

The family requests memorial contributions to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
