Kenneth Ray Long, 65, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Saturday, October 13, 1945 in Blue Springs, Missouri, the son of Harvey W. and Violet L. (Lentz) Long. He departed this life Friday, July 22, 2011 at his home surrounded with love and family. On September 14, 1989, Kenneth was united in marriage to Susan Marie Storey in Miami, Oklahoma.

Kenny was a heavy construction laborer and worked for Beemer Construction retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Jewel Lodge #480 A.F. & A.M., Pleasant Hill.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Kenneth Michael Long in November 1963.

He is survived by his wife Susan of the home; two sons Scott (and Stacy) Long of Pleasant Hill, and Jason (and Kristin) Hale of Strasburg; two daughters Donna (and Shane) Barnett and Kelly (and Bill) Curtis both of Pleasant Hill; five sisters Mary McDaniel of Dearborn, Missouri, Janelle (and Harry) Pate of Pleasant Hill, Brenda (and Steve) Fockler of Warrensburg, Cindy Long of Pleasant Hill, and Lana Long of Autec Naval Reserve, Bahamas; six grandchildren Darcy and Brad Barnett, Baylee and Megan Long, Breanna Curtis, and Cash Hale; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the funeral home. Pastor Jerry Tharp of the Lone Jack Baptist Church officiated.

Visitation was held prior to the service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Care of the Mid-West and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
