Kerry Eklund

Kerry Kathleen Eklund, 95, of Pleasant Hill, was born November 10, 1919, in Van Buren, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas Glenn and Nellie Elmore (Phillips) Burns. She departed this life Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Crown Care Center Harrisonville.

Kerry was first united in marriage to Dr. J. Robert Walters, Sr. DVM, and to this union one son J. Robert Walters, Jr. was born. They later divorced. On May 15, 1966, she was united in marriage to Dr. A.W. Eklund in Pleasant Hill. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1982.

Early in her working career Kerry was a Dietician and an instructor at a local Nursing College. Later, after marriage, she devoted her life as a homemaker.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Billie Holle.

Kerry is survived by one son Jay Robert Walters, Jr. of Pleasant Hill; one step-son, A.W. (and Sally) Eklund, Jr. of Bossier City, Louisiana; two grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service was held Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church or the City Union Mission and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
