Larry Carlisle Gray, 84, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born April 27, 1938, in Shelbina, Missouri, the son of Carlisle and Mary Esther (Sheerman) Gray. He departed this life Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
Larry was a 1956 Paris, Missouri high school graduate and a 1960 University of Missouri--Columbia graduate.
He was a United States Army veteran serving from January 20, 1961through January 20, 1963.
On January 28, 1962, he was united in marriage to Ruth Bell Hoffman in Paris.
In the early 1970’s he was employed as the Assistant Manager for Co-Op in Pleasant Hill and later as the Manager for CMA Co-Op in Callao, Missouri. He later worked as an Appraiser for the Missouri Highway Department and as a realtor. He was Past-President of the Macon Rotary and a member of the Macon First Christian Church. He enjoyed deer hunting especially time spent on family deer hunts near Paris. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He hardly missed any of their band competitions and faithfully video recorded all their performances.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth of Pleasant Hill; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and John Wood of Lee’s Summit; two grandchildren, Will Wood of Kansas City and Amy Wood of Austin, Texas; other relatives and friends.
A private graveside service will be held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
