Larry Snyder

Larry Eugene Snyder, 63, of Pleasant Hill, was born, November 19, 1952, in Harrisonville, the son of Bill J. and Cletis D. (Murphy) Snyder. He departed this life, Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Cass Regional Medical Center.

Larry was a 1970 Pleasant Hill High School graduate and was a United States Air Force Veteran.

On June 22, 1974, he was united in marriage to Kathie Gray in Pleasant Hill. They divorced in 1990. On May 21, 2015, he was united in marriage to Shelia McCoy in Miami, Oklahoma.

Larry was employed as a construction foreman for the W.A. Ellis Construction Company retiring in 2006 after 35 years with the company. He was a proud member of the Operator's Union Local #101. He was also a member of the Cattleman's Association and the Missouri Roping Championship Association.

Larry loved working on his farm. He could be seen daily feeding cows, fixing fence, working on machinery, or many other farm tasks, with his trusty companion and sidekick Clodhopper his dog. He enjoyed spending time with family and watching TV, especially Andy Griffith, NASCAR, and Team Roping. He was always ready to help a friend or neighbor in need. Larry was a good son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Larry was preceded in death by his father Bill J. Snyder and one son Christopher Blake Snyder.

He is survived by his wife, Shelia Snyder; his daughter, Nikki (and John) Davis; one son, Chase Snyder; one step-daughter, Chandra (and Randy) Volland; three grandsons, Colton Snyder, Chase Davis, and Ryan Volland; one granddaughter, Paige Davis; his mother, Cletis Snyder; two brothers, Billy (and Sherrie) Snyder and Dennis (and Melinda) Snyder; his sister, Darlene (and Clifford) Eslick; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of many friends.

Visitation was held Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the funeral home. Reverend Shawn Gray officiated. Graveside military services and interment followed in the Staley Mound Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers were Ronnie Cooper, Hob Divine, Pat Dinges, Kenny Fidler, Charlie Shimel, and Jeff Walsh. Honorary casket bearers were David Carnes and Mike White.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Staley Mound Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
