Laura Bernadine Coffman, 92, of Pleasant Hill, was born, February 21, 1930, in California, Missouri, the daughter of Jacob C. and Rose A. (Fischer) Gatschet. She departed this life, Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Laura was a 1950 Knob Noster High School graduate.
On June 17, 1966, she was united in marriage to Clarence Samuel Coffman in Kansas City. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1985.
Laura was an Account Representative in the Administrative Offices of Amoco Oil in Kansas City. After retiring from Amoco in 1988 she volunteered by helping World War II Veterans in several area nursing homes, hospital terminal wards, and funeral homes. She had a big heart and was always helping anyone needing assistance, especially children and older folks. Many times she gave more than she had and many of those she helped called her Mom, Mommie Laura, Miss Laura or Grandma. She was a member of the Warsaw Baptist Church. She enjoyed working word puzzles, collecting swans, traveling, cruises, crocheting, and flower arranging.
Laura was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Fred Gatschet and Lee Gatschet; and two sisters, Vera DeVaughn and Della IIams.
She is survived by two brothers, Jake Gatschet of Sun City, Arizona, and Jim Gatschet of Pleasant Hill; one sister, Virginia, Martin of Sun City, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Per her wishes, private burial was in the Knob Noster Cemetery, Knob Noster, Missouri.
