Laura Marie Frazier, 51, of Fontana, California, formerly of Kansas City, was born December 1, 1970, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of James G. and Jewell A. (Richardson) Lucas. She departed this life Monday, September 12, 2022, at the San Antonio Regional Hospital in Upland, California.
Laura received her early education from the St. Regis Catholic School and high school education from the Grandview High School graduating in 1989. While in high school she participated in softball, volleyball, and basketball.
On April 20, 2016, she was united in marriage to DeWayne Frazier in Kansas City.
Laura worked many jobs over the years, all with the emphasis of helping others. In Kansas City she last worked for the Family Courts of Jackson County and was currently employed with the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Laura loved watching her nephews and hosting family/friends pool parties. She later found a love of sailing the seas on cruise ships. Laura was not a person to say a lot but was always there when you needed her.
Laura was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James and Bea Lucas; her maternal grandparents, Don and Mary Richardson; and one nephew, Lucas Wiggins.
Laura leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of six years, DeWayne Frazier of Fontana; her son, Anthony (and Charly) Lucas of Sugar Creek; her daughter, Courtney Hunsel of Willard Missouri; two grandsons, Braedyn Hunsel and Keeton Lucas; her parents, Jim and Jewell Lucas of Pleasant Hill; two sisters, Rebecca (and Shawn) Perkins of Grain Valley, and Patricia Lucas of Blue Springs; nephews, Aaron Michael (and Kristyn) Babusa-Lucas, Owen Perkins, and Ostin Perkins; great nephew, Whitt Lucas; special sisters, Jessica Gregory and Michelle Zamora; her summer beach buddy, Johdon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial were held Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the St. Bridget Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill.
Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Anthony Lucas, Aaron Michael Babusa-Lucas, Owen Perkins, Ostin Perkins, Dennis Gregory, and Andrew Sappington.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Autism Awareness and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
